Senior advisor to the Trump campaign and incoming White House deputy chief of staff Dan Scavino on Friday shot down rumors that the president-elect was considering former Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Mich., to lead the FBI.

“Just spoke to President Trump regarding Mike Rogers going to the FBI. It’s not happening — In his own words, ‘I have never even given it a thought.’ Not happening,” Scavino posted on Truth Social.

Rogers unsuccessfully ran for the Michigan Senate seat in November, losing out to Rep. Elissa Slotkin, D-Mich. He emerged as a reported favorite for the FBI director job in recent weeks, though Trump had not discussed him publicly.

Also in the running for the post is former Trump advisor Kash Patel, who has attracted support online from MAGA stalwarts. Those same figures pointed to Rogers’ support for the intelligence community as evidence he would not enact the president’s agenda.

Current FBI Director Christopher Wray has drawn Trump’s ire repeatedly.
